About the CivicLab

                                    Tom Tresser

Tom is a civic educator and public defender who has been working in grassroots democracy and community building in Chicago since 1990. He is the co-founder of the CivicLab, the editor and organizer for "Chicago Is Not Broke. Funding the City We Deserve," and Lead Illuminator for the TIF Illumination Project. In 2008 he co-founded Protect Our Parks to stop the privatization of Lincoln Park. In 2009 he was a co-leader of the No Games Chicago campaign to defeat the bid for the 2016 Olympics.

Jonathan has 25 + years of extraordinary leadership and management on the ground local, regional, national and international experience in all areas of sustaining and growing organizations, programs, initiatives and networks. Jonathan is an expert in the areas of community and organization development, research and analysis, operations, and executive fund development. In 2017 Jonathan co-founded The POWER Institute with Tom Tresser.
